Welcome Home to
Downtown/CBD New Orleans!

Neighborhood Biography

Picture

Like other downtown areas, this is a high energy
part of the city, full of great eateries, nightlife spots,
lots of corporate conferences and store fronts.
The New Orleans Downtown area is a great location
for those who prefer the high energy life of metro areas.

The neighborhood features a blend of old and
new architecture and is a nub of history, business,
and creativity.

Grocery Stores

the largest and most popular downtown grocery store is the Rouse's on Baronne St. A beautiful and crisp location that brings fresh and healthy food to the downtown area.
But Rouse's is not your only option. There are several smaller stores dotting the area, like:

Schools

Homer A Plessy Community School and the International High School of New Orleans are both located within the downtown neighborhood. Homer Plessy is located in one of the oldest, most historic and beautiful school buildings in the city.

The NET of Central City and the International School of Louisiana are also located nearby but not cetrally within the neighborhood.

The NET has a reputation for a student-centered focus, with less worry on superficial concerns like uniforms. Visit their site for more info by clicking HERE

Cultural Highlights

Downtown New Orleans is the hub of a long and many times controversial history, including the disputed "formerly Lee Circle" and the location of the New Orleans slave market.

In addition, there are several local museums and historical archives such as the Amistad Research Center, WWII Museum and the CAC Community Arts Center.

There is also the obvious annual infustion of Mardi Gras festivities and the amazing Essence Fest celebration, among many others.

There is never a shortage of educational, cultural and engaging experiences to have in Downtown New Orleans.

Honestly, there's way too many restaurants in this neighborhood to even try to limit it to 2 or 3 highlights.
This is a hub of food, entertainment and nightlife. On every block, you'll find several options, from rooftop bars, hotel based restaurants, poboy shops, coffee shops, late night bars, and lots of live music.
