Cultural Highlights - Frenchmen St

Gentilly is one of the largest residential neighborhood. One of its current cultural hubs is located on Frenchmen St and Milton St. This one block hosts some of the best small businesses in the area: hair salons, a yoga studio, and a great bar and grill style restaurant.

North of the Gentilly Ave and Elysian intersection you'll find other similar pockets of small businesses, such as Zimmer's Seafood.

Schools

Gentilly has a few schools, mostly located on the edges of the neighborhood, with homes and a few local businesses dotting the landscape.

Below is Edward Hynes Elementary located near City Park and to the right is Benjamin Franklin Elementary, which rests on the same campus as the University of New Orleans.

Most residents of Gentilly shop at the local Rouse's located on Leon C Simon or the WalMart on Chef Hwy, while a few travel to the Midcity Winn Dixie.

The Rouse's remains one of the neighborhoods favorites because its shopping center also includes a wide variety of small restaurants, a medical lab and a pediatrician's office.
